Responsible consumption and production

S.S.G. seeks to decrease the total waste produced. We work according to the guidelines of ISO 14001:2015. Bureau Veritas audits every year. We have a declaration of the absence of asbestos in manufacturing or packaging of materials, components, products or systems. S.S.G. Shipping Services B.V. is responsible for product procurement for all products its supplies.

• We 100% recycle waste glass.
• We 100% recycle waste paper and carton.
• We use no plastic as of 2020.
• We use only paper (packing) materials..
• We pack on a wooden pallet, with bio-degradable wrap foil.
• We are ISO 45001:2018 certified: we provide safe and healthy workplaces.
• We have a declaration of the absence of asbestos.
• We strive for products that are sustainably sourced.
• We select suppliers who are environmentally and socially responsible.

Climate action

S.S.G. Shipping Services needs to reduce the carbon footprint. We commit reducing the GHG emissions (scopes 1 & 2) and reach carbon neutral by 2035. We are also committed to reducing the use phase emission intensity of sold products. We work with our suppliers and partners to reduce the indirect GHG emissions from our entire value chain (scope 3). We also continuously identify, analyze and measure the (financial) implications of climate change for our business and our marine clients. As far as possible according International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).

Our vision: transformation to a carbon neutral value chain by 2035. We reduced our carbon emission in the last two years with 37%, our target for 2024 is 30%. Zero in 2030 in scope 1 and 2.

• 46 solar panels (annual CO2 saving of 10.239 kg).
• Gas consumption only when 100% compensated.
• Three new airconditioning units with the latest sustainable technologies.
• LED lights in our office buildings and warehouses.
• We source products from the closest source and improve supply chain efficiency.
• More than 50% working from home – no fuel consumption.
• We communicate green policies company-wide to create a green culture.
• Detailed calculation of our carbon foot print and taking initiatives to reduce.
• CO2 reduction every year with a minimum of 10%.

Life below water

Protecting marine life should be a high priority for every company operating at sea.

S.S.G. Shipping Services is a preferred supplier for safe and profitable vessel operation. Profitable at SSG also means with benefits for people and planet. We are able to support the different vessel types in the marine markets with spare parts and technical solutions. Because our equipment and spare parts meet the highest standards in quality, eco-friendliness and ISO-certifications, we help our marine customers to limit their emissions to the minimum, making sure they operate according to any given regulation. Furthermore, we strive to contribute to less use of plastic in both products and packaging, as well as smart logistics.

S.S.G. also sees sustainability as the sustainable deployment of employees. This leads to fit employees and ultimately a better result for our maritime customers. We also need employee engagement to reach our sustainable goals. Goals who protect the planet, the people and sealife.
